Adele Cohen's family blog

On Monday 11/9/09 Adele had a minor heart attack while at her brother Herb's dental office in Worcester. She was taken by ambulance to the UMass Medical Center on 55 Lake Ave. North, Worcester, MA 01655. Luckily she had little to no damage to her heart from the episode but testing revealed that she had 3 severe blockages of her coronary arteries that would need to be repaired. She is now resting comfortably and without pain until she can have bypass surgery.

We got word today that Adele's bypass surgery will be tomorrow, Friday, afternoon. Her surgeon is Stanley Tam who is chief of the Division of cardiac Surgery and Co-Director of the Heart and Vascular Intensive Care Unit. As you may know Adele's niece, Alisa Rosen, is a cardiologist at Boston Medical Center. She was able to find out that Dr. Tam is extremely well respected and seen to be as good a cardio-thoracic surgeon as any in Boston. This was very reassuring to us all.
Andy is making plans to fly in from Florida soon and Marc is staying in Brockton. He and Fred are driving in daily to visit.
